| PROBLEM: |
This US-based apparel manufacturer
outgrew their information system—a system for which we did an RFP 10
years earlier. They wanted to upgrade their system, and link their
manufacturing/warehousing facilities into the new solution.

| SOLUTION: |
| We reviewed their back office,
manufacturing, warehousing and distribution operations. Based on our
review, we designed a new work flow, which we documented and reviewed
with management and key staff. We then prepared a Request for Proposal
(RFP) for a new information system for their apparel manufacturing,
warehousing, EDI, accounting and communication functions. The RFP was
issued to twelve suppliers who we knew could provide solutions for this
RFP. |
| RESULTS: |
| We received twelve proposal, analyzed the
offerings and presented the alternatives to the client, comparing all
proposals equally. The client selected a solution which they expect to
last another ten years.
The benefits of the RFP is it documents the proposed
workflow and allows the client to analyze proposals equally. |
